Abstract

ABSTRACT
On-time performance is one of the main indicators used to evaluate airline operational performance. One of the factors affecting on-time performance is Turn Around Time (TAT), which is defined as the time required from aircraft block on until the aircraft is ready for departure. Failure to achieve the standard TAT may cause flight delays that affect overall operational efficiency. This study aims to determine the percentage level of Actual Turn Around Time achievement against Standard Turn Around Time and to analyze the causes of delays based on delay codes in narrow-body aircraft operations of PT. Lion Air Group at Juanda International Airport Surabaya.
This study employed a descriptive quantitative method using a percentage analysis approach. The data used were secondary data obtained from the Turn Around Time Report of Departure Control Station SUB Lion Air Group for the period of November 2025 to January 2026, with a total population of 4,166 flights consisting of Lion Air, Batik Air, and Super Air Jet. The results showed that out of 4,166 flights, 2,931 flights or 69% were categorized as non-target, while 1,235 flights or 31% successfully achieved the established TAT target. The highest level of TAT non-achievement occurred in December, while the lowest delay level occurred in January.
The delay code analysis showed that delays were dominated by code 95 at 17.73%, code 46 at 15.12%, and code 91 at 14.83%, indicating that operational delays were still mainly caused by reactionary delays and other operational factors. Based on these findings, it is necessary to improve coordination among ground handling units, evaluate dominant delay factors, and conduct periodic operational supervision to improve TAT compliance and operational efficiency.
