Abstract
Perkembangan teknologi digital telah mendorong institusi pendidikan untuk mengadaptasi strategi promosi yang lebih efektif, salah satunya melalui pemanfaatan media sosial. Instagram, sebagai platform berbasis visual yang populer di kalangan generasi muda, menjadi media potensial dalam mendukung promosi penerimaan calon taruna Sipencatar di Politeknik Penerbangan Surabaya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi strategi media sosial Instagram
yang saat ini diterapkan oleh Poltekbang Surabaya, menganalisis persepsi calon pendaftar terhadap konten promosi, serta merumuskan strategi optimal yang dapat
meningkatkan jumlah pendaftar.
Penelitian menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi langsung akun
Instagram @poltekbang.surabaya, wawancara mendalam dengan tim humas kampus, serta responden calon pendaftar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Instagram telah berperan signifikan dalam membangun citra kampus dan mempengaruhi keputusan calon taruna untuk mendaftar. Namun demikian, ditemukan beberapa kelemahan, antara lain ketidaksesuaian urutan unggahan konten seleksi, kurangnya informasi
detail tentang program studi, minimnya testimoni alumni, serta keterlambatan update jadwal seleksi. Selain itu, analisis insight menunjukkan bahwa meskipun
jangkauan konten tinggi, konversi audiens menjadi pendaftar masih rendah akibat kurangnya elemen interaktif dan ajakan bertindak (call to action) yang kuat.
Rekomendasi strategis yang diajukan antara lain peningkatan kualitas dan konsistensi konten, eksplorasi fitur reels, highlight dan story secara optimal, penggunaan pendekatan storytelling visual, serta penyusunan kalender konten yang
terintegrasi dengan kebutuhan informasi audiens. Dengan optimalisasi ini, diharapkan Instagram tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai media informasi satu arah, tetapi juga menjadi platform interaktif yang efektif dalam meningkatkan jumlah
pendaftar Sipencatar secara berkelanjutan.

The advancement of digital technology has driven educational institutions to adopt more effective promotional strategies, particularly through the use of social media. Instagram, as a highly visual and widely used platform among younger audiences, has become a strategic medium for promoting student admissions Sipencatar at Politeknik Penerbangan Surabaya. This study aims to identify the current Instagram-based promotional strategies employed by the institution, analyze prospective applicants' perceptions of thepromotional content, and formulate optimized strategies to increase the number of registrants.
This research utilizes a qualitative descriptive method, with data collected through direct observation of the Instagram account @poltekbang.surabaya, indepth interviews with the public relations team, and responses from Sipencatar applicants. The findings indicate that Instagram plays a significant role in building the institution's image and influencing prospective students' decisions to apply.
However, several weaknesses were identified, including inconsistency in the posting sequence of selection stages, lack of detailed information about academic programs, limited alumni testimonials, and delayed updates on important announcements. Additionally, while the engagement metrics show high reach, the conversion rate from viewers to actual registrants remains low due to the absence of interactive elements and strong calls to action.
Strategic recommendations include improving the quality and consistency of content, maximizing the use of features such as reels, highlight and stories, applying visual storytelling approaches, and developing an integrated content calendar aligned with the informational needs of the target audience. Through such optimizations, Instagram is expected to function not only as a one-way communication tool but also as an effective interactive platform to sustainably increase Sipencatar registration.
