Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh sistem boarding school
terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis taruna Diploma 3 Lalu Lintas Udara di
Politeknik Penerbangan Surabaya dan faktor yang mempengaruhi berpikir kritis
taruna.
Penelitian ini diteliti dengan menggunakan metode kuantitatif. Pe.neliti me.ngambil
langkah pe.ngumpulan data me.nggunakan angke.t kue.sione.r yang pe.mbuatannya
dari indikator-indikator pe.rmasalahan yang dite.mukan. Analisis data pada
pe.ne.litian ini me.nggunakan data jawaban statistik pada se.mua jawaban re.sponde.n
yang dite.tapkan se.bagai sampe.l pe.ne.litian. Untuk me.lakukan analisis data maka
pe.ne.liti me.nggunakan Software. Statistical Product and Se.rvice. Solutions (SPSS)
ve.rsi 29 se.bagai alat untuk me.nganalisis data. Peneliti menggunakan skala Likert
sebagai tolak ukur Variabel.
Hasil uji hipotesis menunjukkan bahwa nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,000 < 0,05,
sehingga hipotesis nol (H₀) ditolak dan hipotesis alternatif (H₁) diterima. Artinya,
terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan antara sistem boarding school terhadap
kemampuan berpikir kritis taruna Diploma 3 Lalu Lintas Udara di Politeknik
Penerbangan Surabaya. Selanjutnya faktor-faktor dalam sistem boarding school
yang paling berpengaruh terhadap berpikir kritis adalah: (1) kedisiplinan
lingkungan, (2) kehidupan sosial di asrama, (3) intensitas bimbingan guru/pembina,
(4) kegiatan ekstrakurikuler dan akademik tambahan, (5) durasi tinggal di asrama,
dan (6) fasilitas pendidikan yang tersedia. Faktor-faktor ini mendukung
pembentukan pola pikir analitis, evaluatif, reflektif, dan mandiri. Oleh sebab itu,
taruna yang telah menjalani sistem boarding school lebih lama (tingkat III)
menunjukkan kemampuan berpikir kritis yang lebih matang dibandingkan taruna
tingkat I. Ini menunjukkan bahwa sistem boarding school efektif dalam membentuk
kemampuan berpikir kritis seiring waktu.

This study aims to determine the effect of the boarding school system on
the critical thinking skills of cadets in the Diploma 3 Air Traffic Control
at the Surabaya Aviation Polytechnic and the factors that influence their
critical thinking.
This study employed quantitative methods. The researcher collected data
using a questionnaire, which was created based on the identified problem
indicators. Data analysis in this study utilized statistical data from all
respondents' answers selected as the study sample. To conduct data
analysis, the researcher used Statistical Product and Service Solutions
(SPSS) software version 29 as a tool for data analysis. The researcher used
a Likert scale as a variable benchmark.
The results of the hypothesis test indicate a significance value of 0.000 <
0.05, thus rejecting the null hypothesis (H₀) and accepting the alternative
hypothesis (H₁). This means that there is a significant influence between
the boarding school system on the critical thinking skills of cadets in the
Diploma 3 Air Traffic Control at the Surabaya Aviation Polytechnic.
Furthermore, the factors in the boarding school system that have the most
influence on critical thinking are: (1) environmental discipline, (2) social
life in the dormitory, (3) intensity of teacher/supervisor guidance, (4)
additional extracurricular and academic activities, (5) duration of stay in
the dormitory, and (6) available educational facilities. These factors
support the formation of analytical, evaluative, reflective, and independen t
thought patterns. Therefore, cadets who have undergone the boarding
school system for a longer period (level III) show more mature critical
thinking skills than level I cadets. This shows that the boarding school
system is effective in forming critical thinking skills over time.
